No Apparent Bruises By  Robyn Hope McMahan

Genre: poetry, flash non-fiction/prose

Robyn Hope McMahan is a Chicago author. She holds a BA and MFA in Creative Writing and this is her debut poetry collection.

No Apparent Bruises Abuse is the author’s poetry, or I guess the correct genre is flash non-fiction/prose about dealing with a form of abuse that we normally don’t talk about: emotional abuse. Emotional abuse can affect its victims in ways that physical abuse never will. Bruises heal, but sometimes you can never heal from what is being said to you by other unwell humans trying to break your spirit. The trauma she has endured in an extremely unhealthy relationship pours out through her words. These words hit deep. I am glad she felt like her story needed to be heard & shared it with us. Wish her the best on regaining the ability to trust & love unconditionally like she did with this broken human who tried to control her mind with unkind words. When this came up to read, I was very much looking forward to reading it & highly recommend you do if you have dealt with emotional abuse or just like really deep poetry. Grab a copy here.
