When Brooklyn housewife, Bella Bloom visits a mysterious Indian guru to fix her marriage, she turns into a cooking sensation and…murder suspect in this   action-packed, hilarious, new cozy mystery series for fans of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum and Elle Cosimano’s Finlay Donovan.

Sophie Schiller is a writer of thrillers and historical adventure tales. Kirkus Reviews called her “an accomplished thriller and historical adventure writer.” Her latest novel is BROOKLYN MASALA. She graduated from American University, Washington, DC and lives in New York.

My Thoughts

Brooklyn Masala by Sophie Schiller is about a lady named Bella, who had a suspicion that there was something going on with her husband, so she investigated to see what she could find. She found out her husband had a woman on the side, so she talked to her friends and then recommended she go to an Indian guru to help her fix her life. This Indian guru sent her on a mission to make the best garam masala spice that she could. Basically brainwashed her to make her believe that this spice that she is creating and all the yummy Indian dishes she is learning how to cook are going to help fix her marriage. The Indian guru needed more and more of her spice, which made her a bit suspicious and stressed out, as she had no interest in dealing with all these creepy people she had come across while delivering the spice to the Indian grocery stores in the area. She had the opportunity to possibly collaborate with a famous celebrity that was in the food industry to launch her own line of frozen foods along with her spices. Bella’s passion to fix her marriage and learn how to cook made her life way more complicated. Great summer read
